Interim Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on preparation of a new version of the law on development and use of languages in Ukraine will in the nearest future report on its activity in the session hall. Head of the Commission, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi said this during another meeting of the Commission on March 28.
R.Koshulynskyi informed that he will address the Parliament with the proposal to either continue Commission’s work or refer the adjusted basic bill to international expert institutions.
“During the next plenary meeting, I will address the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, report on the Commission’s work and on the conclusions reached. I will focus attention on the fact that the bill of the group of experts under the chairmanship of Leonid Kravchuk was taken as a basis,” said R.Koshulynskyi.
According to him, it will be either suggested to continue the Commission’s work, or keep the basic bill “On the Order of Using Languages in Ukraine”, elaborated by the group of experts under the chairmanship of Leonid Kravchuk, and refer it to the Venice Commission, the OSCE and the Council of Europe for expert opinion and remarks that will be further considered in the course of parliamentary work.
Thereat, R.Koshulynskyi stressed that the Commission’s task was to exclusively elaborate the bill on the use of languages in Ukraine. Thus, the proposals pertaining to amendments to the Main law will be accumulated and referred to another commission that works on refinement of the Constitution.
R.Koshulynskyi expressed regret that the Commission “did not work in full composition”.
